OUR JOURNEY

It all started on Hinge, where a simple swipe quickly turned into something more. Messages flowed easily from the start, and we spent two weeks chatting while Emily was holidaying in Seville, getting to know each other before finally meeting in person.

That first date took place on 17 August 2023 at Prosecco House. One Prosecco turned into several, and conversation flowed late into the evening. Before we knew it, we were being politely asked to leave. Not quite ready for the night to end, we wandered over to London Bridge, where we continued chatting and people watching.

Two days later came date number two at All Points East, and from there it was seven dates in three weeks, followed by a couple of weeks apart while Tanuj was in India. Somehow, that only made things stronger.

One of our first trips together was to Knole House, a place that would later become even more special when we moved to Sevenoaks together. Our first “holiday” was a festive one, visiting the Manchester Christmas Markets (that counts, right?), followed by our first trip abroad to Greece, where we spent two unforgettable weeks in Crete. Since then, we have travelled to Spain, Portugal, and India together, as well as explored more of the UK, including Yorkshire, Kent, and Scotland.

Along the way, Emily introduced a very serious tradition: Sunday Roasts. What started as an occasional indulgence has become a fully fledged operation, complete with ratings, strong opinions, and an Excel spreadsheet tracking every roast we have ever had. Particular attention is paid to gravy, roast potatoes, and cauliflower cheese.

We met at exactly the right time in our lives and love doing life together, whether that is cooking up a storm, hosting barbecues for friends, heading out on long hikes (that Emily insists are “just a little walk”), or planning the next adventure.

Then, on 6 May 2024, while drinking wine by the river in Porto, with the sun setting in front of us, the moment felt right. After secretly carrying the ring around for days, Tanuj popped the question and Emily said yes. It was a complete surprise and the perfect moment, followed by excited calls to family and friends to share the news.

And here we are, still talking endlessly, still planning trips, still rating Sunday Roasts, and so excited to celebrate the next chapter together.
